Have you watched the news lately? It seems that our world is not a very nice place. Pollution, war, antisocial behavior, guns, drugs, murder, thieves. We are all familiar with these words. We all consider them as “bad things” but still, we are not doing anything. On the contrary, we accept that they exist in our society - we think its ok; it’s not our job, that’s what we pay police for! But still, have you ever thought that you are in a way guilty?
Do you actually feel guilty?
What about pollution? Everyone is making the same mistake. Let me give you an example… if you chew gum and you have the wrapper in your hand, you will most likely drop the paper on the ground and think that, “its ok; everyone is doing it, I will not save the planet!” But if we actually recycle this paper, we will save a long field of woods, and that means that we will also save a lot of water. Plus, if we keep our forests alive, we will have much less air pollution.
Think about something else. Do you really have to take your car to go to work? Bus, subway or train work just fine; they are environment-friendly and they will save you some money!
It is time for everyone to start acting, and not stay in the theory. You don’t have to belong to a non-governmental organization to help the planet you are living in, or to help a poor child. Instead, if you came across a child begging in the streets, give it something to eat; don’t make it rob you or murder you some day. Make the child believe that people are good and don’t seek their punishment. I do understand mental illnesses, I know that some people are dangerous, but about 95% of people in jail wouldn’t have commit crime if they were raised properly.
When it comes to war… Most people mentioned in history books became memorable by participating to great wars. Going back in history, we can see that people used to fight for glory, even posthumous fame. There were also times when people needed to fight for their freedom. What do we have to win now? Just money… Don’t you think that this sounds too self-centered? Don’t you think that a lot of people are dying just for a small amount of rich people to become richer? I could understand an Honorable fight for freedom but I dislike an economic War. If you take a look at the army you will see that most of the soldiers have joined for the money and health insurances. They used to be poor and they find the Armed Forsed as an easy solution so they could live a little better after the age of 50. Nobody told them about the sick nightmares, nobody told them about the guilds, nobody told them that they might die before the age of 25.
Be the first who will tell.
Drugs… A big conspiracy that police does not have the power to stop anymore. After all, there is always this number of stupid people who are just making some more money. Have you ever tried to tell your children about drugs? Have you tried to explain what drugs are? Or have you just said “Stay away from Drugs”? Let me remind you that you also said “Stay away from Cookies”, but they still get eaten.. Please try to explain correctly why we must stay away from drugs. My father used to say, “Why use drugs? Just try to drink one bottle of whiskey in one minute and the result will be the same! Believe me, the next day you will not remember anything, oh and by the way, you will be sick of whiskey too!”
And all the guns…Have you ever thought if you really need them to feel safer? Safer from what exactly? Are you afraid of your neighbor? Of your classmates, or your teacher? Have you ever thought how many innocent people have died because of wrong use of guns?
Comedian Chris Rock nailed it when he said: “You don’t need no gun control. You know what you need? Bullet control. I think all bullets should cost $5000. You know why? If a bullet cost $5000 there’d be no more innocent bystanders.” Sarcastic, but still so true.
Maybe we should reconsider what Michael Moore proposed: “Why not use Gandhi’s way? He didn’t have guns, and he beat the British Empire.” I hope you are familiar with that.
So, I just want to say that all of us that live on this planet have to reconsider some things. We all share the responsibility of our home Earth. Recycling is our responsibility. Living in peace is our responsibility. Trusting people is in our hands. Teaching our children to stay away from drugs is something we can do. If we all do our best to keep our planet safe and clean, it will work.
I just suggest thinking about it.
