I don’t get it… people are always waiting for a carnival to express themselves. I think it’s time for everyone to feel free! You don’t have to care that much of what other people think, it does not matter if you like to wear cut-off jeans or give your hair a nice pink color…Just do it! People who love you and care about you will never abandon you!
Express yourself.
Let others see who you really are; if they don’t like what they see and disapprove of you, it’s not your problem. After all, you don’t need this kind of people around you.
Be familiar with your body.
It does not matter if you are fat or thin, tall or short; the point is that you should never be embarrassed about your looks! Be sure that everyone will appreciate you more if you don’t have any strange insecurities on how you or your hair looks if this mini-skirt is too short - as long as you like to wearing them!
Trust your ears.
Well, if you like metal music or punk music and not Tchaikovsky, it’s not a big deal! It’s just a matter of taste. You don’t have to feel embarrassed if people around you think that your favorite music stinks… After all, you’re the one listening to it!
Don’t underestimate yourself
How many times has it crossed your mind… “Wow, he knows so much!” or “She is sooo smart!”
Don’t feel bad when you come across people everyone admires. And don’t compare them to yourself. If someone has a lot of general knowledge, try to make him give you some - that way, you’ll know what he knows. And never forget that there must be something you are doing better than him or her for sure!
It’s NEVER too late!
If you think that you have lost your chance to become who you always wanted to be, you are so wrong! It is never too late! Just take a look around you - you’ll see how many people started very successful careers at the age of 40 or 50 or even 60! How many people at the ages of 70 or 80 are doing exactly what they’ve always wanted? Make the big step and move forward! Be who you are meant to be!
What’s more, if you feel that someone is pressuring you to make changes “for your own good”, just walk away - if you just keep trying to convince them that you are not who they think you are and you don’t want to change, you’re just wasting time. You don’t need those people in your life! All you need is to be yourself, and feel free!
I know that sometimes people have to pretend to be somebody else. A great example of this is dress codes that many people follow at work, even at jobs they don’t want, or the way we treat our colleagues and supervisors at work. And although I can understand that, I can not understand this pretence in our personal life.
