Earth Hour 2008

You may wonder: what can I do about climate change? I am just one person.
Well, all together, we can make an impact.
We have a chance to protest about climate warming today.

Today, on March 29, 2008 at 8pm, turn off your lights and let Earth have its hour. A single voice might make no difference. A couple of million voices can deliver a powerful message.

Earth Hour is a movement created by WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and although last year it was a one-city event (in Sydney, Australia) event, this year it’s gone global!

So, this evening, at 8 pm (your local time, wherever you are!), turn off your lights and appliances for an hour and enjoy the quiet of the darkness under the light of candles. If you are alone at home this is the perfect time for some thinking (something we rarely have the chance to do these days). If you are with your family or your friends it’s the time for a true conversation (seems like something we don’t do enough anymore either).

More than 35 cities in North America, nearly 200 cities around the globe, thousands of individuals, companies and organizations have joined in for Earth Hour.
Be one of them. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live or what you’re doing at 8pm (local time). Just be a part of it.

Make your voice heard. Participate!Give our world a chance
Beyond Earth Hour. Change your attitude; change your every day routine and save energy!

Switch your common light globes to energy efficient bulbs.
Try to avoid the unnecessary use of air-conditioning.
Switch your electric appliances to energy-efficient ones.
Turn out lights every time you leave a room.
Switch your electricity sources to “green power”.
Use public transport instead of your car.

I always participate in the "Earth Hour". This event is a symbol that we should be more aware of our environment and that we should focus on protecting mother earth.
